Description of Perkins 1800kW vibration test

Engine: Perkins 4016TWG

Alternator: Leroy Somer

Prime Power: 1800KW

Frequency: 50Hz

Rotating Speed: 1500 r.p.m

Engine Cooling Method: Water-cooled

1. Major Structure

A traditional elastic connection plate connects the engine and alternator. The engine is fixed with 4 fulcrums and 8 rubber shock absorbers. And the alternator is fixed with 4 fulcrums and 4 rubber shock absorbers.

However, today normal gensets, whose power is more than 1000KW, do not take this kind of installation method. Most of those engines and alternators are fixed with hard links, and shock absorbers are installed under the genset base.

2. Vibration Testing Process:

Put a 1-yuan coin upright on the genset base before the engine starts. And then make a direct visual judgment.

3. Test Result:

Start the engine till it reaches its rated speed, and then observe and record the displacement state of the coin through the whole process.

As a result, no displacement and bounce happens to the stand 1-yuan coin on the genset base.

This time we take the lead to use shock absorber as a fixed installation of the engine and alternator of gensets whose power is more than 1000KW. The stability of high-power genset base, which is designed and produced by combining CAD stress intensity, shock absorption and other data analysis, has been proven through the test. This design will solve the vibration problems well. It makes overhead and high-rise installation possible or reduces the installation cost, while reducing the requirements of the gensets mounting base (such as concrete). Besides, the reduction of vibration will increase the durability of the gensets. Such an amazing effect of high-power gensets is rare both at home and abroad.
